OP here. Called the dealer and I'm bringing it in. They are going to examine and make a determination. Keep your fingers crossed. It is at the bottom of the windshield so I think it is the construction. P.S. As of the ride to work the crack is now a foot long, so I really can't drive this thing.
We had a defective windshield and the crack started at the bottom too. You would have heard a pebble crack the glass. I'm pretty sure your's is defective too. Be adamant that you didn't witness anything cracking it and that it just happened and you want it replaced. If they won't cover it and the insurance has to cover it you will still be out your deductible.
I think the deductible depends on your insurance. We live in VA, have USAA and have no out-of-pocket expenses for replacing a windshield.
My MD insurance covers filling cracks 100% but if the entire windshield needs to be replaced the standard deductible would apply. Are you sure this isn't what yours is too? I couldn't imagine why you wouldn't have to pay your deductible unless you simply don't have a deductible. How would that benefit the insurance company?
