Parent of two MV students here. First -- it pains me to say it, but I think if someone asked me this question in person today, I would recommend LAMB. We have loved a lot of things about MV -- esp. some great teachers and a great parent community -- but the Administration now seems checked out. Admins seem incapable of communicating with parents, whether as a group or individual. Bullying/behavior issues in the older grades are severe and administration does nothing. Teachers have started telling students that there is nothing they can do with disruptive disrespectful students b/c "school policy" does not allow any consequences for bad behavior. But, I will defend the school against stupid racist statements like "it is for upper class white liberals". The school has a large Latino population and a diversity of income levels (across racial groups). The teachers are great and there are some great staff. At this point, the school is experiencing what I would call growing pains and a lack of strategic vision. If the administration and board were focused and able to communicate with parents, those growing pains would likely be worked out. But, the administration has instead opted for a "siege" mentality and has locked themselves in the expansion bunker. The biggest problem at the moment is complete lack of attention to classroom management and bullying and behavior issues.
