Highlights are that TJ received over 250 more applications this year, the percentage of admits from FCPS increased from 65.6% for Class of 2021 to 71.9% for Class of 2022, and the percentage of Asian admits dropped from 74.9% for Class of 2021 to 65.2% for Class of 2022. There was also a significant increase (from 8 to 23) in the number of Hispanic students admitted, but not Black students. https://www.fcps.edu/news/tjhsst-offers-admission-485-students-class-2022
Honestly, I don't understand why race has to factor in where academics and merits are the criteria for admission!!
Because diversity adds to the educational experience.
How so? I can understand the equity argument but how does it help the high school educational experience to have racial diversity? Different backgrounds means different points of view in class discussions. Having to work with kids from different backgrounds on group projects (and there are a lot at TJ). You know, like in the real world.
