We the people who believe in science. We know about the solar system now. Diseases. Weather. Etc. We don’t need to explain these things with something else.

Of course not. And I don’t need any gods/mythical creatures to explain any of life’s mysteries.

We now know about viruses and bacteria. So we (most of us) no longer think an angry ghost caused that cold we had last week.

Yes, we know more now about viruses and bacteria than ever before in history, but so what? God is still the omnipotentent power that created all of it.

That's the thing about religion,  while particular denominations have particular rules, people also feel free to make up some of their own rules and beliefs.  It can be comforting and there isn't necessarily anything wrong with it unless you impose those rules and beliefs on others.[/quote]
