A family member has one and I haven't smelled feces on them. [/quote]. I work with colostomies daily. A lot of the smell depends on where it is as well as the diet of the person. And the GI makeup of a person. I've had many patients where the smell is neglible. I've also had many that permeate the entire hallway of the hospital when they are emptied and the scent lingers on them. Ostomies aren't "common" but they are common enough that it's a possible reason. Granted, the person could have continence issues or just plain poor hygiene. [/quote]
