Oakton has always been a very welcoming school compared to the schools surrounding it even back to the 80's and 90's because it pulls from many elementary and middle schools. It is fairly affluent, but with many pockets that are more middle class as well including right around the school. It also has some racial diversity and has always done well on ratings and test scores. I do not have a child there now, but have heard it is still welcoming.[/quote]
