The unfortunate issue facing FPYC (as far as the lone 2008 girls travel team is concerned), is that there are only 12 girls on the squad now.  I think it is reasonable to expect losing one or two girls per year due to life changes outside of soccer.  The team will essentially cease to exist when the game jumps from 7-v-7 to 11-v-11.

Our UK-Elite-aligned coach, who is great ... as far as the parents are concerned, has made efforts to recruit/invite other girls to join the FPYC team.  I think we added at least two girls from Vienna last year. Our coach was even tapped to coach the 2009 girls for FPYC, but there wasn't enough interest to field a full travel team.  It would have been tough, even for him, to make up the year's difference in development between the 2008s and the 2009s for them to play as one squad.  I believe that there is also a 2007 girls team under a different coach, but I have no idea how they are faring.

I don't know if there are similarly-sized clubs immediately adjacent to us that are facing similar issues (Annandale, maybe?).  It seems as if a merger, if only for one or two age groups, will allow the girls to develop and play on for a few more years, without forcing everyone to (seemingly) start over in larger clubs.[/quote]
