This is child sexual abuse per the law. Harassment, yes. But also child sexual abuse. I have been telling the schools in meetings and in writing for 6 years they need to fix their sexual harassment policy to clearly state sex crimes against children by staff are also child abuse. I have implored them to clearly state these things should be reported to police and cps. They have not made a single change. If parents / students / other staff had gone to police / cps over the years with the guy at Blair......instead of reporting it to the very people who were condoning it and enabling it...maybe it would have ended sooner. Today, I emailed Jack Smith, AGAIN, and members of the BOE, AGAIN, asking for change. I fully expect, unless more people get involved, they will refuse to act. Derek Turner says in the article they don't know how this happened but they will find out and correct it. It happened in the same way, at the same time all the other sexual abuse happened in MCPS. Because they allowed it to happen. Google these names: Lawrence Joynes, Daniel Picca, John Vigna, Jose Pineda, Joshua Greenburg. Let me know if you want more, there are a lot. BTW, as of this moment, the MCPS harassment policy still tells students the following - instead of telling them to report to Police / cps Dating or sexual relationships between employees/adult volunteers and students is prohibited. Actions for Students If you believe that you are the target of sexual harassment or the focus of inappropriate behavior, you should report such incidents to your parents and school authorities. You may report the information verbally or in writing to the principal, a guidance counselor, a teacher, or another staff person. http://www.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/info/sexualharassment/
