Family of four. We spend about $600 a month/$150 a week on groceries. We normally don't buy organic. Most of our groceries come from the local chain and Asian supermarkets. I feel this is a generous budget. This includes everything from fruits/vegetables/meat to cheese/snacks. We have plenty of variety in our diet. We usually make enough that there's leftover for lunch for everyone. If we had to, we could cut $100 and still eat well.
This is us as well. We have a family of 4: myself, DH, a 12 year old and a 6 year old. I make a meal plan every Friday and use that to create our weekly shopping list. I cook enough so that we have leftovers to take for lunch the next day, but I don't do bulk cooking because no one in my family likes eating the same thing every day for several days on end. We have a good rotation of recipes that everyone likes. I believe that consistent meal planning and cooking at home (or at least "assembling" at home) help a lot with keeping our grocery budget reasonable. But who knows, my soon-to-be teenage son may end up eating us out of house and home over the next few years!
