My groceries cost more than my rent. I am not the best meal planner but we aren’t eating super expensive organic/grass fed stuff either.
What, how is that possible?!? We have 3 adults (parents and 1 grandparent) and 1 toddler. Our groceries are usually $150/week, plus another $200/week on eating out. I'd guess about $20 of our grocery bill each week is household stuff like detergent, shampoo, toilet paper...etc. We eat a lot of simple big batch meals like spaghetti, chili or sheet pan chicken meals for and eat the leftovers throughout the week for dinner. Breakfasts are simple things like smoothies, oatmeal, english muffins and fruit. The cost of fruit really adds up though. We eat a lot of fast casual foods for lunch and on the weekend, like District Taco, Cava, Roti. I try to stock up on meat and put it in the freezer when it's on sale. Shoppers seems to have good sales on meat. A couple of weeks ago, I bought a ton of packs of ground turkey there on sale. I also just joined costco, maybe that will save us some money.
