It made more sense for the dad to die of natural causes. The writers creatively addressed the actress who plays Billie pregnancy in real life. They had her stuck in New Zealand unable to fly b/c of an ash cloud. Mick was such an awesome character. Having them divorced seemed like a cop out but made more practical sense. Lawrence's fixation with Billie made no sense, but I would have preferred if they had reintroduced his character and Billie cheated on mick causing the break. She already cheated once before but a second time would break the camel's back.[/quote]
