Smaller class sizes and smaller school sizes are not the same thing.  The former may allow for more personal attention and instruction; the latter tends to lead to fewer course options, weak PTSAs, and extra-curricular programs that struggle to get off the ground.

FCPS has neglected Lee for many years, aided and abetted by weak school board members who don't stick up for the school.  They should not be moving any kids out of West Springfield to Lee at the present time.  Period. [/quote]

You do not know what you are talking about... and you keep talking about it.  Do you live anywhere near Lee/Springfield/the mall?  If you did, you would know that that area has nothing to do with "revitalizing" Lee.  Nothing.  The mall is fine.  But, it ain't gonna improve Lee.  [/quote]

The Town Center nor the TSA will help Lee.

Take the TSA - many of the employees can move just a few miles down the road to WS, Hayfield, South County, Edison, etc. Or they will go to private or pupil place to another FCPS school if they choose to live within the Lee boundary. Simply put - people are avoiding Lee, particularly white families.

As for the Town Center, it is nice enough, but it really won't have any impact on the school. Any housing ever built on the Town Center property will be be in the form of condos or apartments, yielding fewer students and possibly more students from housing set aside for low income families.
