It may be independent of her political persuasion. Secondly, a liberal or anybody can be open-minded about people having different viewpoints than them, but it doesn't mean that they want to spend time with them or be married to them. I think everyone should be able to worship or not as he or she pleases, whether that means being Muslim or athiest, or evangelical Christian. It does not mean I want to be buddies with any of them if their values are different than mine. I still think they should be allowed to practice how they want (if they aren't hurting anybody).
