Because it's a personal service that includes a monetary transaction.  Same reason you tip a cab driver even though the fee he charges is the fee for delivering you to your location.  Mail delivery is a govt provided service that does not involve a monetary transaction...even so, some folks tip the mailman during the holidays.

Why should I tip a cab driver?  Just because it's a personal service that includes a monetary transaction doesn't mean that I should have to tip them.  Aren't they being paid by their employer (or shouldn't they be and the company can then raise their prices if needed)?  Do you tip your tax person?  What about your UPS person?  FedEx?  Floral delivery?  Where does it end?  Who decides what the social norms are?  I for one am tired of tipping for everything under the sun.  Pay your people a fair wage and charge whatever you need to charge.  [/quote]
