My ex moved five miles down the road. His house zones to different schools so he drives the kids and drops them off when he has them. They take the bus to my house in the afternoons and he picks them up here, just in case he gets out of work a little late or traffic is bad. There are two mornings every two weeks where I have to get them from his place and drive them in or bring them to my house to take the bus because my ex leaves early those days to go to work. For the buy out, I took the equity and “paid him out” via a trade over money I wasn’t entitled to from his retirement accounts. That’s how I was able to stay in my house. But we are very amicable and get along well. Not sure our arrangement would work for everyone.
We do something similar. It helps to live near the schools for dropoff/pickup purposes, but only one of you needs to be within the school district. And you should be able to do any kind of visitation schedule you want.
Op here, yes I can live close by. What do you mean by any kind of visitation schedule?
I mean where the kids are every day. 50/50, etc.
