Do protestant churches have cty rooms OP? Almost all of the Catholic churches we attended over the years have cry rooms, and there are sometimes older kids in there.

How old is your son OP?  Coule you sit in the back with him and attend short increments of church, leaving early but working your way up to him attending a full service?  That might work out better in tue long run than a nursery, because very soon he is going to feel embarrassed going to a nursery.

What about a church with structured Sunday school during the service? Or a children's Mass? At our churches that did these, the kids woukd stay with the parents for the beginning, leave for the readings/homily, then return for the liturgy of the Eucharist. Maybe a Lutheran church woukd have something similar???

Surprisingly OP, what made my wild child behave the best at church was when we started attending one of those very traditional, formal, quiet, full of crabby looking old people churches. All of the kids, from babies to teens, are so well behaved there, and with the quiet and peaceful/serene building he just felt like he needed to be quiet and (mostly) still. I think it was the solumness of the church that did it. He decided on his own that being naughty would draw too much attention to himself, and he started behaving on his own.  It
