All the California public schools should be dropping. We flew out there to see if my daughter should apply and it is pretty obvious that the schools are having budget troubles more severe than in some of the other states.
Why should California multi-gen middle class get soaked supporting a University system their kids get rejected from in favor of fresh off the boat Chinese/Korean kids and DREAMERS who don't pay a cent for tuition? It's insane that residents can build up a college system for multiple generations and then their kids can't get in.
Uh. You know DREAMERs pay tuition, right? They aren't allowed to get federal student aid, but schools can give them their school-specific aid. Only students with US citizenship can get federal aid money. My gosh, if you're going to complain about immigrants and financial aid, at least do some basic reading about how things work. The problem is that, as with many students, there are people in CA who only see a few of the public universities as "respectable" options. There's probably room for every CA student who wants to go to college to go...but they all can't go to Cal and UCLA.
