When I lived in OT, our house was the very last one on the mail lady's route so our mail slot had a sticker she had to scan to prove when she was finished with that route.  Hence we would hear the bar scanner and know our mail was there.  [b]We caught her several times just dumping all the mail she had left for the route in our mail slot. [/b] We would get mail for all our neighbors and often for people who didn't even live in Alexandria or Virginia.  She never even looked to see if it matched our address, she just gave us all the left over mail.  It was a nightmare.  The post office manager didn't care.  [/quote]

I'm not in OT or even Alexandria, but this exact same thing happened to us in VA.  We are one of the first few houses at the beginning of the end of her route.  We noticed that if the weather was bad or she was running late, she'd distribute all of the neighborhood's mail into the first 3 homes mailboxes and leave.  We'd then have to finish her job by distributing the mail to the neighborhood.  I called the post office and the person I spoke with told us if it was that big of an imposition (ha!) then we could just write WRONG ADDRESS on the mail and leave it for her to pick up the next day.

The mailman we have now is better, but instead of leaving notices for packages, he places them in clear bags and hangs them on our mailbox.  I've had packages stolen twice and once the company wouldn't replace the item because the tracking showed someone had signed for it.  Again, the post office manager didn't care that an employee was fraudulently signing and leaving packages.    [/quote]
