In no particular order: The Wire Veep Sex and the City True Blood (it did get weird later on) True Detective (first season) Six Feet Under Girls Curb Your Enthusiasm Newsroom The Night Of John Adams Big Love If you're looking for the most mindless (I watched a lot of HGTV on maternity leave), then I'd skip The Wire and John Adams.
I loved John Adams! Silicon Valley is fun and funny.
PP here. Let me clarify that I think The Wire is the finest television show ever made. I also enjoyed John Adams. However, they're not light and fluffy shows, and when I was on maternity leave I needed to be spoon fed TV. I tried watching House of Cards and basically cried because I couldn't understand it. Of course, I also cried because postpartum hormones are a bitch. If you don't watch The Wire now, do it once you're sleeping through the night again. It will hit you differently as a parent, especially the school season.
