Op here, This is why I was confused. The person will sleep through the night and I would only be responsible for being available in case of emergency. However the time compensation seems super low. Also they did say that it would be as if I'm getting room and board, but I have my own place to live that I will come back to during the day and on my day off. Their house wouldn't be my "base camp". I'm thinking of taking it, but asking to only work 4 days per week for that rate.
OP, if you are the caregiver trying to negotiate $15, 20, 25 an hour to overnight "watch" an elderly person, you won't get this job. It is a $75-100/ night job in every major city. And less in a Tier 2 city. Good luck.
