I find this entire statement to be navel-gazing.

I moved into a new area. I'm lucky that people have befriended me into their social circle I would hate to think that my showing up at 90% of the same events/parties etc would make one person in the group think I'm copying them. I *could* be copying anyone in the social circle because they are all there too!
