I love it - I read them as a young adult, when they came out, and although the writing is simple, it is not simplistic; it is for children but it is not childish. The plot and the characters are well-developed. I don't think it makes sense to compare it to Fitzgerald or Steinbeck - it's a completely different genre and style.[/quote]
