It's not dangerous to identify as trans and then later identify as cis. It is dangerous to identify as trans, not have family support, and do stuff like attempt suicide or run away from home.
This is a simplistic view of the situation. Yes, it can absolutely be damaging to identify as transgender and have your family reject you. It can increase the depression and sense of alienation these youth are already experiencing, and put them at greater risk of running away or attempting suicide. But it absolutely also can be damaging to identify as transgender and then later desist from that identification. These detransitioned young women, who identified as transgender as teens and began medical transition, would disagree with your that there are no possible harms: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gP5B98KY8mU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q3-r7ttcw6c The long-term effects of puberty blockers are unknown- even top gender doctors say as much, although they believe the benefits outweigh the (as-yet-unknown) risks. Puberty blockers followed by cross-sex hormones means irreversible sterility. Cross-sex hormones that don't follow puberty blockers can damage fertility, although certain sterility is not guaranteed. Before the widespread use of puberty blockers, in various studies of trans-identified kids, 60-90% desisted after puberty and most went on to be well-adjusted gay or lesbian adults. These medications are blocking puberty, and thus persistence rates are higher. I absolutely do think it is dangerous that kids who would otherwise have been gay are being "converted" to straight and sterilized through the use of lifelong medication.
