I feel pretty comfortable eating runny, unpasteurized eggs, in the large scheme of things. The main risk is salmonella, but unlike other food-borne diseases like listeria, pregnant women are not at an increased risk of getting it. Salmonella also does not cross the placenta and affect the fetus. The exception is apparently the variety of salmonella that causes typhus, but I don't see any indication that this kind is found in eggs primarily. So the only problem with salmonella is it may get the mom sick, and that's not a big enough issue for me. But I ran a mental risk/benefit analysis first. I did microwave my lunch meat tho b.c to me that was worth it..it didn't ruin the taste and increased the safety from a much more dangerous bacterium. http://www.clinicalmicrobiologyandinfection.com/article/S1198-743X(14)64079-9/fulltext
