A coworkers ex-wife demanded half of his (rather meager) 401k when she divorced him (she was leaving him for her boyfriend) but didn't think her much larger pension should be counted.  He was willing to let her walk away with her pension intact but she wanted his money so he got hers.  [/quote]

I know. But where was her lawyer? Not that PP or the coworker would necessarily know, but it seems like idiocy to go forward with the ex-wife's claims based on what usually happens to pensions in divorce cases.[/quote]

I'm the PP with the coworker / ex-wife story.  She was completely immune to logic, to be honest.  I'm sure her lawyer tried to tell her what would happen but that woman couldn't be convinced of anything if she believed otherwise.  As I recall, she thought she could just refuse to comply and she would get her way.  [/quote]
