Dear God -- please heal the local TV announcer who has a cancer recurrence. And please heal others with cancer who are not on TV.
And Dear God - please just stop giving people cancer. Especially the kids, and also parents of young children.
God doesn't give people cancer, PP. This is so sad, OP. Thanks for posting. I will pray for her.
Who decides who gets cancer and who doesn't?
It's not a "decision;" it's just a fact. An occurance, based on a multitude of factors, including lifestyle, genetics, environment and sometimes just plain dumb luck.
So God is not all powerful? God can help "cure" cancer with prayers, but not prevent it in a child?
Here we go again. PP, with all due respect there are already about 359,639,179,830,279 threads that address this topic, but.... God is absolutely all powerful. God can and does cure people from cancer and every other disease, including their own sin. Cancer - like all disease, destruction and evil in the world - is not of God. It is the opposite of God, in that it is evil. Evil is part of the broken world that we live in. It is simply a fact. We are all going to leave this world, one way or the other, through death. Some people will die of cancer, many others will not. It is part of the "how" that we die, as there is no "if" we will die. Death itself is part of the evil that exists in this world. But the Good News -- through Jesus Christ -- is that He has overcome the world.
And God isn't the creator of all? If he is, he created evil. He created disease, he created destruction, and he created evil in the world. And don't start on some "Satan" craziness - God created Satan (or he is not all knowing). It's one thing to believe in God - another to believe in an interventionist God.
No. That's where you're wrong. God did not "create" evil. Man created evil, by turning from God. God ALLOWED evil to exist, because He gave us free will. But man managed to mess it up all on his own, without God's interference. Evil was never part of God's original plan.
And now that humans messed up God's plan, there is nothing God can do to change it. Thus, good people occasionally get cancer. Bad people get cancer too. God is not involved either way. God only doe good things, like occasionally answer prayer.
