I recently read a statistic that the average 40 year old will take 20 months to get pregnant (5% chance each month). I'm not yet 40 (38) but my AMH points to the fact that my ovaries have prematurely aged (my AMH is .4). I've been TTC for two years now with no luck, all tests normal and RE says it's "age". Do you really think it takes that long for the average 40 year old to get pregnant? If so then it will probably take me 4 years.
with a .4 AMH you need to go to the RE. I had at .4 at 34 years old and it took 3 years and 2 ivf's to get pregnant (with timed intercourse EVERY month). It's called DOR and normal stats mean nothing when your AMH gets below 1. get on supplements and find a doctor that specializes in DOR. If they try to put a protocol with birth control pills on you - run, don't walk - to another doctor.
