Robinson/West Springfield/Lake Braddock are the best pyramids in FCPS.

They have academic excellence balanced with a normal life for the kids plus really fun and friendly families.[/quote]

In the 80s and early 90s, Robinson and Lake Braddock used to be right up there with Langley, McLean, Madison and Woodson as the top schools in FCPS.  With the development in Tysons and along the Orange Line, however, Oakton and then Marshall overtook them academically, and it looks like Chantilly will follow suit. This is the only true statement.  LB and Robinson also tend , by and large, to be schools where people aren't crazy about Ivy or bust or some other nonsens....If you have a smart kid they're going to do well anywhere, FCPS.  If you have a not so smart kid, being at a tippy top school won't matter since teachers tend to spend most of their time helping the ones most likely to succeed -- honors, AP and IB kids.  Kind of like Varsity and JV sports.

Best thing is to find a neighborhood you like and elementary where your kid is reasonable happy.  Everything else is just noise that you'll be embarrassed you paid so much attention to. My kids went to one of the schools  you mentioned, but I'd be just as happy to see them any of them at Robinson or LB.  These are mostly rich people's problems.
