The media pushes him to answer these question because the public wants the answers. Even though the answers are irrelevant to the job of mayor, if this was congress or the senate then it would be relevant.

People care about improving garbage collection in NYC, but they also don’t care about the details. It would be great to see the proposals, but the common man just wants it off the street and aren’t interested enough to actually learn the positions and vote based on it. Even though it has far more impact on their lives than his thoughts on the ME.[/quote]
