I wonder when we say that there were times when Justin lost his temper or acted unprofessionally, does it matter to anyone that Blake and Ryan were really pushing way beyond the boundaries of a professional relationship? It seemed like fairly early on in production, Blake and Ryan liked to have meetings with Baldoni in their Tribeca penthouse. I find that pretty unprofessional of them, and also unprofessional to have other celebrity friends there as well. It’s kind of absurd to me that more people haven’t questioned that. Then to push the opinions of high-powered celebrity friends when wanting to say change the rooftop scene or something seems really unprofessional. It also seems insane to me that Ryan berated Justin I believe according to the timeline at least twice, both times in the penthouse, one time leading to a Sony exec to quit the movie because he had never seen such bad behavior. I also don’t see people questioning Ryan’s involvement in this movie enough. Is it because he’s just such a huge celebrity and power player that we take for granted that of course he’s going to be super involved in a film that he has nothing to do with?? But isn’t that really out of the norm and also super unprofessional? I actually think that is why Blake is having trouble getting roles because now people if they didn’t realize before, see that they’re getting a package deal. We have to ask ourselves if Blake wasn’t married to Ryan Reynolds would a lot of these scenarios have happened. I just have been really surprised that more people haven’t pushed back… Why the F was Taylor Swift and Hugh Jackman in a meeting about it ends with us with Justin? Why in the hell were these meetings taking place in Ryan Reynolds penthouse and not at a studio or onset? Why was Ryan allowed to berate Justin? I just don’t see people questioning that enough probably because these are celebrities so they seem benign, but in any other workplace setting, this would be so totally out of the ordinary. It seems like Justin was put in some really challenging and totally unprofessional scenarios and the power imbalance was really off.
Some of this may or may not have been professional. But it does not go to the claims or defenses in this legal action. It doesn’t excuse claims of sexual harassment, defamation or retaliation (which does not require a proof of the underlying SH). That’s why people aren’t questioning it. Because even assuming it happened as reported, and even assuming it was unprofessional, it’s not relevant to this legal cases.
I guess my point is why not? So if I am at my workplace and I run from a conference room, crying and screaming, that is objectively unprofessional behavior, and I really should not do that. If you then find out a colleague of mine tried to assault me in private in that conference room and I was running away upset….that changes things right? This is a sloppy way of putting it, but what I am saying is Justin was putting in some really untenable and unusual situations. That doesn’t explain sexual harassment, which I actually don’t think happened, but it might explain some things like he he was crying more than Blake would’ve liked, which is an allegation she made, the set was not run as tightly as it could be, there were some unprofessional things happening. it certainly seems like some of these allegations are workplace disagreements, and not on the level of harassment from Justin’s side. I know that Justin is not suing for harassment, but it seems like being berated and maybe even forced to come to someone’s private residence for meetings could be in the category of harassment. And could lead some unusual behavior from his end. It just seems like this is such an extreme and crazy situation and we’re like wow he just acted unprofessionally. Why are the same people are not questioning some absolute unhinged behavior from the other side that may have driven some of this. And I think the answer is because Blake lively is really pretty and Ryan Reynolds is really famous and they’re celebrities so they can’t possibly be harassing people? And I just see a different way. I think the power was very much in their favor, and they took advantage of that. Agree if he SH or retaliated it would not be relevant but the evident of both those things seem weak. It appears they created this totally untenable situation and then blamed Justin for it and twisted things.
