Different question. Why would girls want to be on a roster like that? Are the parents forcing them to be part of the "ECNL dream"? It doesn't seem like they'd get any of the supposed ECNL benefit from that type of arrangement. Kids only get so many years to play youth soccer, and this is just flushing it away.[/quote]

Sorry, your first question was open game, thanks for specifying. If you are not playing on pay to play team especially at GA/ECNL level then you are wasting your time and money in the pre-HS years. In HS, you could argue some benefits from training, and being in a competitive environment on a team competing for nationals, as long as you get minutes at Showcases. The problem is it can be difficult to gauge playing time from a parents persepective nor does it benefit a coach to over promise anything during these spring ID and tryout seasons. It's only to the club's benefit $$$$ to roster more than 18 players, not to us the consumer.[/quote]
