Oh please, if they actually cared about equity they would have gotten rid of IB and put AP in every HS during the last boundary adjustment.
Maybe, but the nonsense in western Fairfax stems from people not wanting to attend two AP schools - Herndon and Westfield. Buying KAA when there were 600 empty seats at Herndon was stupid, and now you’ve got all these people arguing that someone else - and not them - should get moved to Westfield.
You don’t want them redistricting to fill Herndon because those moves are coming from Langley and South Lakes, not Westfield or Chantilly or Oakton. Skyview is closer to McNair and Coates than Herndon. And Herndon would have 200 or so more kids if SLHS was AP because the Herndon kids wouldn’t be able to pupil place to SLHS. Which means that 600 seat gap becomes 400 and the move of the Langley kids takes up most of that 400 seat gap.
You must live in a total fantasy land. They aren't getting rid of IB nor are they moving Langley kids to Herndon. They are spending hundreds of millions on Skyview to avoid moving Westfield kids to Herndon, and in return they still end up with parents fighting over who gets moved to Westfield to backfill it. If they were going for a Kumbaya moment, it was fleeting.
