Why do we have to have a thread like this every 4 years? The options are what they are. You may not like them but you pull on your big girl/boy panties and make the best choice. I don't care if you don't like Biden. His record is good. He is competent and surrounds himself with competent people. He is respected by our allies. Has done some good things. And, you know, hasn't denied a past election or tried to overthrow it. TRUMP SHOULD BE DISQUALIFIED ON THAT BASIS ALONE. And anyone who would vote for him, and potentially end our democracy and system/norms of government, is unamerican. Disgusting. And a terrible person. End.Of.Story.
I am a democrat and have doubts he is going to be competent over the next FIVE years! He is 81 and clearly has moments that are concerning. Why must the party nominate him again? Why can’t we have someone better who will beat Trump? I cannot vote for someone who is not competent because I do not know who will be pulling the strings.
+100 This is my issue as well. I think it would be easier to do if he had developed Kamala as a VP. He doesn’t even seem like he talks to her
He should replace Kamala with someone credible and competent. There must be at least ONE such person in the Democratic party?
There are plenty of credible and competent politicians in the Dem party and the focus should be on replacing Biden with one of them to run in 2024. Replacing a VP with someone you think may be more competent than the current VP in order to compensate for the president losing competency is not the way to go about insuring competency in the White House for the next 5 years.
Why open the Dems up to that debate? They had it 4 years ago and the moderate won. If you have it again now, you will pit the progressives versus the liberals versus the moderates. the indpendents will listen to the right wing chastise the progressives and scare them into supporting the fascists. Why do that now? Get Biden into office. Maybe he retires a year or two into it. So be it.
That’s why I voted for him last time. A generic dem candidate polls higher than Biden against Trump. Hell, even a weirdo like Kamala does. If last time we did a primary Joe still won the national election then why not try it again? I don’t doubt a moderate could win but don’t think Joe is the only moderate.
Because that’s how it always goes. Generic and far out polls aren’t super accurate, and because of the “unique” way, let’s call it, that the media has of dragging whichever Democrat is in front of them, always biased against whoever is the known candidate. Hillary had amazing polling until the “mainstream media” dragged her for filth. Seriously, go look up her likability ratings in 2015, then look during 2016. And let’s Democrats have to be perfect. Trump could s**t the stage and the media would either not mention it or praise him. Someone collides with Biden on his bike and it’s a weeklong story about how it shows he’s unfit to be president. Nevermind the fact that Trump doesn’t know how to ride and famously doesn’t exercise.
