I think women who had epidurals are wimps.
I think the women who don't have epidurals or any other kind of pain relief are sanctimonious and need pats on the back for going natural. Good for you if you always wanted to experience transition and the ring of fire, but don't expect that you'll get a trophy or a cookie because you're so "tough."
FTM here (20 weeks along). I am hoping for a natural birth because I'm genuinely scared of a needle in my spine and the potential, although rare, side effects. Also, I want to learn how to work with my labor pains to speed things along instead of fighting against what is happening due to pain, fear, etc. That being said, I don't judge my friends who went to the hospital and immediately decided to get an epidural (in fact I'm open to getting one myself if I really need it). Thank goodness we have options in this country. I really don't see why people need to judge other women's labor choices either way.
