I heard his speeches and interviews at Davos and he does sound worse than previously. However, there's also an element of fatigue, due to travel, that makes his speech worse. Usually when he's at home and in his routine, he sounds better (but still far from normal). All in all, I don't think the decline is fast enough. I know you guys love to anticipate his imminent demise, but he might well live out his term.
I'm NOT a Trump fan and I'm not giving him any credit, BUT that an 80-year-old person can keep the schedule of a President, while somewhat impressive, it surely comes at a cost. First, the travel would wear out anybody. I don't see how somebody that's 80 can do this- regardless of how you rate Trump's job performance? I also don't see how somebody this age, would want the job of President? Obviously, ego (and maybe avoiding jail time) is the driver here. I think if Trump hadn't run for President in 2024, that MAYBE he could have quietly gone off into the sunset? I know his ego won't allow it, but surely he can't be happy in his current position? Since he has brought all this onto himself, I don't feel sorry for him, but I do wonder if he ever regrets running in 2024? I think golfing, hanging out at your mansion in Palm Beach, and spending your last years with family, is much better than being President. I guess I'm thinking too much like a sane, rational person, but I just don't get this guy.
I'm not sure about that. I remember my 90 year old grandmother who would get up early and stay up late, take a nap in the afternoon. He doesn't really do much actual work, when he's being briefed he doesn't bother listening, just takes over and rambles. And he's never had a normal sleep schedule to begin with so one might argue that the jet lag thing doesn't even apply to him. As for spending time with his family, not sure about that either. There's a photo of someone's baby being plopped on his lap and he's not even looking at the baby, he's staring off in another direction.
+1. Do you guys all remember all the comments during his first term about how much "Executive Time" was in his schedule? How he didn't have engagements in the morning and then a press lid was regularly called at like 5pm? We've simply forgotten all of that because we've had three geriatric presidents in a row.
