Oz also isn't a great candidate, but carpetbagging is what politicians do. Hillary Clinton won the NY senate race in 2000 while living in Washington, DC (as first lady), wasn't from New York and had no discernible connection to New York (she grew up in Illinois and then was associated with Arkansas).
