I was strongly in the Santa/intruder camp and now I think Burke hitting her makes more sense. Not to kill but to hurt. His whole smearing fecal matter on things - the kid had emotional problems and I get his mom had cancer - but he wasn't getting the help he needed. He needed to be in therapy, also think he was on the spectrum. Lots of challenges. But think he did it not meaning to kill her and parents covered it up. Hearbreaking story - I feel so bad for the parents. I don't agree at all with what they did but feel awful for them.
Burke did receive therapy to deal with everything that he and his family went through. He is now a grown man, a college graduate, he has a career and he is in a steady relationship with a nice young woman. I suppose that's about as good of an outcome as anyone could hope for.
Sadly what you say isn't true. Burke is a recluse who works from home in IT. He is incredibly social awkward and it's apparent he came forward because he was tipped off of the CBS show that would conclude that he killed his sister. Having a steady relationship means nothing - I can think of a dozen serial killers or murderers who end up getting married in jail. An almost 10 year old boy wiping feces everywhere is not normal and is actually a sign of deep emotional problems. It was clear from the videos that Burke had not processed (or was not capable of) processing his sister's death. Very, very sad. And not what I would describe as a good outcome.
It was 20 years ago, he was 9 years old at the time so not legally responsible, and there is no pattern of him doing anything like this to anyone else. If Burke did do this it was in a childish fit of temper over a toy or pineapple or some other such trivial thing. There was no premeditation, he didn't want his sister dead. The guy IS now a college graduate, he DOES have a job, he IS in a relationship. And he did go to a therapist at least for a while when he was a kid. To equate him to a serial killer is really wrong. You think he's weird? Oh well, it's a free country.
I didn't equate him with a serial killer. Sigh. Simply said having a girlfriend is meaningless. I called you out for your silly dismissal of his issues. But whatever, believe what you want to believe.
