If the second consultants were told, "Chantilly HS is overcrowded, Westfield needs students"--the most obvious solution to that problem is to find the closest "Chantilly" zoned ES to Westfield and move that area over. You don't need a conspiracy theory to see how they arrived at that proposed map.
Agree but also they're not from this area so they don't know that the number of mile away from something is very different from the number of minutes away from something, nor do they know that there are no residential neighborhoods between Lees Corner and Westfield neighborhoods.
Lees Corner, Poplar Tree, Brookfield, etc are all closer in miles AND minutes then the Centreville areas. Someone did a whole post on it. There's no arguing with facts on google maps. I still think they will get moved, but for political reasons, not logical ones.
No. Those neighborhoods are VERY close to Chantilly. Some of the neighborhoods are walking distance and the kids do walk. The neighborhoods proposed to be moved from Centreville are not VERY close or walking distance to Centreville. And, Centreville is over capacity. With the loss of Oak Hill to Skyview, Chantilly should be okay.
If you think everyone should be zoned to attend the school that is physically closest to their house, then no one gets moved and Westfield is a ghost town. Is that your position? Or just your neighborhood is a special case, that should be treated differently? Your area is close to Chantilly AND one of the closest areas to Westfield. Which fact gets greater weight with FCPS? Who knows!
Lee's Corner has kids that are walking distance to Chantilly and kids that are six miles from Westfield. You really think that makes sense?
