I’m a school librarian who would not put penthouse in the library. I would, however, put other books, which I deem appropriate, in the library. 
It’s about age appropriateness and book choice. 
I’be been doing this for 25 years. No one has been corrupted on my watch because I’m professionally trained with degrees in education and media studies. 
Parents are not.

Gender queer should be in HS. Maybe late junior high.

See, we make decisions like this all day long. But this banning of books and accusatory nature towards educators is tiring, frustrating and ultimately, bad for our learners.
