Any honest look would show that Battlefield is a really strong team but also has the easiest road to the state championship of the top 3 teams (Madison, Battlefield and Robo) since they would only have to play Madison or Robo in the final.  Its not Battlefield's fault- its just the way the brackets are set up.  Unlike a team like Woodson (for example) that scheduled easy games to improve their record, Battlefield scheduled a difficult regular season schedule and still ended up with a great record.  They will have to beat a really good team in the final regardless.  Tired of this conversation.[/quote]

Sorry this is a bad take. Record means nothing. District record means everything. Anything else you can throw out the door unless your are just trying to be battle tested. Once you get to district and regions that’s all that matters. Look at west Springfield. Did they not play almost exact schedule as Woodson? They  played well in regions and avoided robo til finals to make state. It’s not rocket science here people [/quote]

The point is that Battlefield did all in its power to play difficult teams.  The fact that it happens to be in the easier side of the state bracket has nothing to do with them trying to dodge competition.  But yes- district and region playoffs alone but the teams where they are.  And in terms of Woodson, they lost to Alexandria City (yes Alexandria City) in district playoffs.  That put them on Robos side of the bracket.  They were not battle tested and it showed.  Thats the point.  Battlefield is battle tested.
