Congress never declared war there either and yet it went on for years. POTUS is commander in chief and has executive authority to take immediate action in the interests of national security. If you want to hang him, then hang him for the actual unconstitutional crap he has done. And there is a lot of it.
But our national security was not under immanent threat from Iran.
Was it under imminent threat from vietnam? I would suggest that Iran's nuclear program is an imminent threat to everyone's national security.
Isn’t everyone’s nuclear arsenal a threat to global security?
It is. We made a terrible mistake after the end of the Cold War in allowing nuclear proliferation to... proliferate. North Korea and Pakistan are the big ones. There's no walking back now. They have them, and it changes things. Weirdo North Korea and unstable Pakistan are not countries we want with nukes. Regarding Iran, the world has spent twenty years encouraging Iran to keep things at the civilian level. Which would have been fine for everyone. Nothing wrong with nuclear energy. But Iran went full on with enrichment to near weapons grade and they have a very advanced ballistic missile system. I don't like Trump, but he did the world a favor here. It's one thing if France or the UK or even Israel has nukes - stable democratic countries who would never use them in any kind of offensive capacity. It's an all together different thing with Iran - a repressive police state ruled by an 86 year old religious zealot with dreams of martyrdom. From Tel Aviv to Riyadh, the entire Middle East would face obliteration with an Iran with nukes. It's important to remember that Iran's issues are not just with Israel. But with the entire Sunni world. Good for Trump for not being a TACO here. The entire planet is happy with this.
Allowing Israel to have nuclear weapon was the biggest mistake and the greatest threat to the continuation of the human race. The US providing arms and aid to Israel just compounds the problem. It is too bad the US attacked Iran based on the lies propagated by Israel. Iran did have a nuclear weapon, did not have fissionable material and was not taking any steps to develop a nuclear weapon. It is important to remember Israel will not stop with Iran. Israelis are planing to attack Turkey next. All the problems in the Middle East can be traced back to Israel.
Right, Israel is the problem because their neighbors keep trying to annihilate them. How inconvenient. They have yet to threaten to, or to actually use, their nukes. Having such a deterrent seems like just a sensible precaution, given the hostility they face. And, thanks for your insider knowledge about the planned attack on Turkey, which is evident only to you. You'd better alert the Turkish embassy right away, they'll probably give you a medal.
The bolded is an outright lie. https://apnews.com/article/israel-nuclear-weapons-gaza-iran-china-1e18f34dcec40582166796b0ade65768 https://www.icanw.org/commentary_nuclearweapons_israel_gaza https://archive.org/details/Sampson_Option
