St. Mary’s has 21 seniors vs Prep’s 8 (most of whom don’t play). St. Mary’s also has 18 college commits to Prep’s 10. Prep lost 17 seniors last year, 13 of which were college commits. They have a young team (despite all the false jokes about holdbacks) with many sophomores playing. Give them time. They are basically a new team with only a week of practice under their belt. They definitely need to do some major work on their offensive game and goal tending, but I predict they will work hard and claw their way back.
Knowing St Mary's has 20+ seniors on the roster, it will be interesting to see if they can make a deep run in the MIAA playoffs. They had a talented team last Spring but then faded down the stretch due to a COVID outbreak on the team. Save the non-sense about GP being a young team this Spring. Prep people continue to boast about how talented their 2023 class is but it hasn't proved squat in the past two games. In all seriousness, GP's best offensive player, the Episcopal transfer, shouldn't even be allowed to play in the IAC after this Spring season due to burning his eligibility. I do agree with you, Prep I'm sure will figure it out and will be a much better team as the season plays out.
