I think it is about what kind of people the wealthy people are. We have two children both in classes with wealthy families. However one class is about 25 percent Chevy Club parents and the other only has a few families. The class with the large Chevy club families is very divided. In fact one mom hosts events often just for the kids that belong there. So I think it depends on how they spend their time and whatnot and not just that they are wealthy.
This
Maybe they just don't want embarass folks who they presume are not able to afford it, and that they will invite folks who they know from past experience can afford it.
My kids are in DC private HS and I give them a credit card. They know who does not have the $ to join the group for BS'ing at Panera or wherever, and I've told them to discreetly pick up the check if someone is going to be left hungry or not join because they don't have the $10 for lunch.
Oh please - this post is an f'ing joke and so demeaning. The kids on FA at private schools are not piss poor living in a shelter. They just aren't making $350K+ You richies are clueless.
I agree. When I read this, it sounded laughable because the students who are on FA have money for food. They might not have money for the extracurricular trips to Costa Rica or Italy, for example, but I have never gotten the impression they don't have $10 for lunch or are hungry. PP sounded really condescending. I have not sensed her kind at my kids private school in Potomac but I guess they are everywhere.
You should get out of Potomac once in a while. In DC privates there are kids with zero $. They need the free DC metro card to get to school, since there is no other option and no other money in the house. You have no F'n clue what you are talking about.
