So much ignorance. 1. Undocumented immigrants do not have access to welfare and food stamps. Never have, never will. 2. Legal immigrants have to be here for 5 years to qualify. 3. Undocumented immigrants almost all pay payroll taxes. Thus they pay to fund benefits for US citizens. 4. Almost every economist who has looked at this has concluded that immigrants are a net plus to the US economy and the treasury. 5. Since 2009, the number of undocumented immigrants from Mexico has decreased. http://money.cnn.com/2014/11/20/news/economy/immigration-myths/
+1 - works in immigration I'll also add a side note that even in liberal proposals 'amnesty' does not mean that everyone here illegally magically becomes a citizen. It means they get a path which would, at MINIMUM, be as long as the old path. It currently takes about 10 years start to finish to become a citizen. They would have to pay all the fees and go through all the rigamarole and likely pay a steep penalty. They will not bankrupt social security (and this scenario is incredibly unlikely to happen anyway in the political climate, no matter how much she might want to Hillary can't pass immigration reform through sheer force of will).
So illegal immigrants do not have a baby within a few years that automatically becomes a us citizen and wont receive welfare for that baby? I read how an hondran mom who had zika had a baby here and came here just for that and will accrue 1 mil in welfare. Also maybe not mexican immigrants from mexico but def central amerivan immigrants from mexico because mexico does not want them and passes them over to the US
If an undocumented immigrant had a baby the baby WOULD be a us citizen. And the baby would qualify for aid. However, in order to APPLY for that aid the parent would have to come out of the woodwork which they are very unlikely to do as that could very easily result in them being separated from their child. Undocumented immigrants spend their lives terrified of being caught, they are not going to go out of their way to create a paper trail towards themselves.
If they are so terrified they need to move back where they came from or a neighboring country that will accept them. Many have kids here just to stay here. I am hispanic and when the going got tough here my parents moved back home despite me being a us citizen and parents legal residents at the time now theyre citizens.
That's great for you. Frequently they cannot afford to move back. Or when choosing between living in fear in the shadows here versus living in fear of being killed by a gang there, they prefer the bureaucratic villain over the gangster.
They cant afford? Didnt they come here to make money? Of course they can afford it! They just choose not to because they are really ECONOMIC MIGRANTS not damsels in distress with no choices like YOU are making them out to be.
Frequently they come here to survive. You are clouded by your family's personal history so you can't see that not everything is as cut and dry as you think. Sure some of them are economic migrants, but you cannot paint this entire population with one brush.
Um no. All of them are economic migrants. Are you hispanic? You should know this.
