Who says a kid who doesn't "party" must come from a strict household? My high school senior has her own car, plenty of spending money, no real curfew...and enough common sense to be a responsible citizen. She's not drinking, smoking pot, having sex, etc. She's still out at least a couple of nights a week with friends and has a pretty active social life; she just doesn't need to act like an idiot to have a little fun. I guess most of you think that she's not the normal one though, but I hope you're wrong.
Congrats, seriously! Same here, my DS was given plenty of freedom including driving himself once he turned sixteen. Didn't do drugs, still doesn't do drugs and thinks girls who twerk are slutty. That is the opinion of a now 22 year old college student who still doesn't do drugs and whose girlfriend finds the practice of twerking not, in her words, "ladylike." Perhaps those of you who judge the nice young people who choose a different path because they witness such ill behavior amount their peers should stop judging. I am ever so thankful that my husband and I were good role models and instilled these traits in our children. Freedom and turning eighteen doesn't have to mean inappropriate choices, especially if it embarrasses your father and mother.
