Wow, the petition is full of hateful comments. I would be embarassed to put my name on that. I'm looking through it now to see if any of them are at my child's school so I can avoid play dates.
Exactly which comments are so full of "hate"? Here are some samples: "I'm signing because this petition aligns perfectly with common sense. " "This is a subject that demands respectful conversation and consideration." "This petition is well written and said - all students' rights have to be fairly respected, not just some special group." Come on, show us the "hate".
Oh, don't cherry pick the bigots who happen to be well spoken. How about: "You need to respect normal student right and not brainwash them to accept LGBT value" "Please offer choices so that a straight student has a choice not to sit through FLE" And the top comment is by someone who frequently speaks, hatefully, at board meetings.
These are bigoted statements? Jesus CHRIST liberals are NUTS. These people are simply asking for choices. It's liberals who not only want to deny choice, but to insult and ridicule to force their LACK of choice.
What I like to do is to substitute some minority... You need to respect normal student and not brainwash them to accept black (or jewish or muslim or christian values. That is horribly offensive. Ergo, "You need to respect normal student right and not brainwash them to accept LGBT value" is offensive. BTW, parents can opt out of FLE.
Bet it would be a whole different story if you put replaced "LGBT" with "Christian."
