Agree 1000%  Personally, I could not care less if some rich dude wants to drive an expensive car.  Good for him.

OP why do you care?  Do you truly have no frivolous purchases that someone also could judge as "wasteful"?

Diamond engagement ring?  how 'wasteful' and how dare you contribute to human rights abuses. 'Financially ridiculous' to spend that amount of $$$ for a rock
Organic food from Whole Foods?  how wasteful to spend the extra cash.  Plus, how dare you shop there and contribute to their poor labor practices
New clothes? Why buy new clothes ever, a few small holes won't hurt anything.  New clothes are so wasteful, haven't you hear about the high cost of fast fashion?
New iphone?  how wasteful to buy a new smart phone each year, do you know that there are now 50 million tons of e-waste a year?
Have kids?  As PP mentioned, a child will do irreparable damage to the environment.  Talk about waste.
