Op here! Yikes I was totally in the wrong! I pay paled her the exact amount I owed her according to her list prices.
You had no idea this was a business - the baker is at fault too. I think ppl are being way too hard on OP. OP graciously admitted she was wrong without being defensive and paid. I think she's a class act.
The baker is not "at fault", because she never asked for payment. OP found out she ran a business, and paid accordingly because that's the right thing to do. Don't see how the baker did anything wrong at all.
Are you this stupid!!! YOU RUN A BUSINESS YOU LIST YOUR PRICES!!! There was no conversation about payment therefore the women did the job for free. The only wrong OP did was to offer to pay.
This woman - "the baker" - extorted money from the OP. No well-intentioned business person offers up something for "free" and then corners someone into paying. It's kind of gross that the OP was put in this position and I have a feeling the baker realized this and therefore didn't pursue payment. Yuck and yuck.
Now you're just making up facts. The woman never said they were free (money was never discussed at all), and then didn't extort money from her or corner her into paying because she never asked for money. This is probably a case of someone whose business grew slowly/unplanned, and OP found her when she was still pretty fledgling and informal, so the woman didn't know how to handle it bc she was new to running a business. But regardless of what you think about OP, all is other woman did was show up with beautiful baked goods, she's not at fault here.
