The contrast that is lost on you is the difference between the time it took Obama to release his birth certificate and the time it took all previous presidents.

Why not?  Given the lack of birther concern for Cruz's situation, we are down to two hypotheses for the birther challenge against Obama:

1.  It's pure partisan hackery.
2.  It's the result of bigotry.

Oh and maybe a large percentage of the country is biased against the number 44.  I forgot that one  :roll:

So, given the choice between hackery and bigotry, I would go with bigotry based on the number of times "Kenyan Born" was uttered in conjunction with "Muslim".
