Because the primary purpose of the Sierra club is "To explore, enjoy, and protect the wild places of the earth; To practice and promote the responsible use of the earth's ecosystems and resources; To educate and enlist humanity to protect and restore the quality of the natural and human environment; and to use all lawful means to carry out these objectives."

The many Republicans who are Sierra Club members, who like to hunt and fish and want our wildlife there for future generations, can tell you that this is not a political action committee. In fact in my family it is the Republicans who are members.[/quote]
